My newest project needs such a bullet, and I have made some detail changes to an earlier proposed 68 gr. BBT design.... I'm hoping that Al will be able to make the RG moulds work for small Meplats, and if he does, that should make this bullet a reality....

If you are interested, please post at this link.... My new TJ's barrel is a 9" twist, and I am pretty confident that this will work.... The Kolbe Twist Calculator seems to be pessimistic on the required twist rate for boattails…. They usually work in a slower twist just fine....

The gun is a .224 cal TJ's barrel with a 9" twist.... This is NOT for conventional airgun barrels, they are too small, and the bullet would be wayyyyyyyyy too heavy anyways.... I am using 3800 psi in a custom built PCP....

IF - the BT was not too small for a gas/check, and it was cast of linotype, this bullet would make a great cast bullet
for gophers and ground hog/marmots out to about 150yards using a fast twist .223. If driven 2,200 to 2,400fps, it
would fragment/break-up on contact.

Unfortunately, the BT is much too small for a GC.... If you post your interest in that thread, but with a GC base instead of the BT, you never know, Al might make both, like he does with PB and GC options.... Just a thought....

Good idea, Bob. However all of my .224's have 14" twists, .22 SwiftIMP(1.6"), .22-250M700 and .222 A1Sako.
I currently have a 68gr. RCBS 2cavity Silhouette mould but it's too long as well, although actually shorter than your 65gr.
due to a shorter nose and G/C base. It needs at least a 12" twist, and maybe 11" would be better even though the higher vel.
68 and 69gr. match bullets required 9" at 3,650fps. That was my .22 BR.

The GC version could use a slower twist than the BT, Kolbe says a 10" would be perfect, and you might get away with 11".... Oh well....
