Hi Guys,

I want to know what are the best HUNTING pellet for PCP?
Or any pellet will work for hunting too.

I got JSB Match Diabolo Exact King .25 Cal, 25.4g and they group really good in my Streamline.

Are these good enough for birds or you guys recommend me some different ones for hunting ?

Thanks

I like the way the Predators worked on the gophers - instant dead and it was only a P.A.L. .177 rifle.
My .22's and the .25 all like the Predators, as almost the most accurate. The condor as well as the .22 Gauntlet
actually preferred RN's. I need to test 50 meters on out to 100 this summer to see if they hang onto that preference.
I would rather use the Predators in all 3 calibres.
These guns like the H&N heavy RN. 21.3gr. for the .22 and .33.9gr. JSB Exact Kings.

If those lighter pellets shoot well at the longer ranges, then by all means use them. Test them first.
Your rifle might be putting them out too fast for long range accuracy. You should be able to see by the
pellet's flight in the scope whether they are tracking straight or not.

A sub 500 fps 177 will take down most birds in North America. Perhaps not a body shot to an ostrich but JSB Match Diabolo Exact King .25 Cal is a lot of fpe at 800 fps. Any bird anywhere in the world with a headshot. What exactly are you looking to hunt?

Those are pretty good at 800fps, that's 48fpe, not quite 1/2 of a .22 LR target ammo, but the larger diameter (.25) helps increase the air gun's killing power. A pellet like the H&H Barricuda Hunter Extreme is virtually a flat point and will produce more cavitation.

For 'power' examples:

My .22LR Anschutz makes 1,435fps, as advertised by Browning for their HP which is 40gr. - that's 183fpe.
Standard Yellow Jackets run 36gr. at 1,450fps making 168fpe and Target RN 40gr. at 1,080fps make 104fpe.
Hardly anyone uses those for hunting as the higher velocity HP's simply work a LOT better.
