So the way I understand is my tx200 carbine .22 caliber has a 13.19 inch barrel and it has a Lothar Walther barrel. I found somewhere that said the barrel has a 1:17" twist.
So I have a couple questions:
1- If the barrel is only 13.19 inches then how does the pellet rotate properly if when leaving the barrel the pellet hasn't done a compleate rotation?
2- I found a chart that says the optimum pellet weight for this twist rate is 16.8gr. If this is true then why even try other pellets ?

Any further expansion on this topic would be welcome.

The barrel length is unimportant in determining the twist rate.... A 17" twist means that the pellet will rotate once for every 17" it travels, both inside the barrel, and after it leaves the muzzle....

I would take the statement that is ideal for a 16.8 gr. pellet with a grain of salt.... no, make that a whole teaspoon of salt.... Your barrel will like what it likes.... and in fact most airgun barrels are too fast a twist rate for pellets, top manufacturers are now using much slower twist rates than only a couple of years ago....

Which is why some guys like to experiment with & use cast bullets in their air rifles. The longer the bullet, the faster the rate of twist needed for stability.
The rewards are generally better long range stability and accuracy along with flatter trajectories at longer ranges due to the cast bullet having a higher
ballistic coefficient than any of the waisted pellets.

As for barrel length, yesterday I watched a video of Jerry Kiculek hitting a steel plate at 100 yards, using a snub-nosed (2"bL) .38 S&W shooting it upside-down, standing free hand, no rest- 1st shot hit.
