Hello everyone,

thought I'd post a few photos of my somewhat beautified Beeman QB78D, with the addition of a new custom fabricated brass safety lever arranged, supplied and recently delivered at no charge by member Barbas929. I originally purchased this rifle from the same gentleman and added some additional polished brass bits and pieces to enhance what Steve had done previously. I think this baby girl is looking mighty fine now, but of course that's a matter of opinion as beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Modified to run both CO2 and HPA, this .22 calibre rifle packs quite a wallop ..... with 18 gr JSB Heavy pellets @ 1400 psi HPA, this entry level airgun is pushing lead at 850 FPS! Now if only I could find a self indexing magazine that fits under the scope without having to install extra high mounts ..... that would finish her off nicely! I may yet McGyver something myself.

Cheers and thanks for looking!

And thank you again Steve (BarBas929), for making all of this possible!

I'm glad it went to a friend who will enjoy it as much as I did, I had a tough time getting it back from my father lol, He was an olschool European who loved his garden and just hated critters eating whatever he had planted especially his fig tree..jesus!!!..don't touch his fig tree
I know it is in good hands now and wouldn't have sold it if an emergency didn't come up

I'm sure it will provide you with years of enjoyment and couldn't have went to a better guy than yourself bud

Steve

Want even more brass???

At your trains hobby shop you can find brass tubing with a 16.8mm diameter. It is a bit bigger than a Qb78D barrel but can be made to fit tightly on the barrel by wrapping a few turns of painters tape around the barrel.

The brass tube is small enough that it clears the CO2 end cap and can but right up against the barrel band. You can use the front sight screw hole to secure it with a hex screw.

A second brass tube can be used between the band and the breech so you could have a full brass barrel shroud from breech to muzzle, but maybe that's too much brass?

The tubing brand is K&S precision metals.

There are a lot on Amazon but can't find the right diameter and they are only 12" long.

I paid $20 for the 16.87mm at 18" long from a hobby shop.

The metal is soft and can be cut on a chop saw with a wood blade.

This is what the package looks like:

Hi Pushtone,

Thanks for the tips regarding the brass tubing, it would be interesting to add that detail to the QB78 just for yucks. I’m actually liking very much the combination of natural wood, brass and black .......... perhaps some brass sling studs on the stock as a finishing touch, other than that, I’m pretty happy with the current “bling”.
