There has to be a reason...no way they could design guns for how many decades??? and still miss the fact that air flow is damaging the skirts...and therefore accuracy....because the bolt probe is not long enough for the pellet to be clear of the port.....

Maybe Crosman want to favour their pellets (with a shallow skirt) over their competitors?....

Yep ~ and the Crosman stock probe design is also fit for that kind of shallow skirt... However the consistent size control of the Crosman is not as good as JSB/H&N etc... Because my BE has a picky bore, while I used the famous Crosman Hollow Point, it's very obvious, from a very easy load to a very tight fit, I met so many times while I only finished about 1/10 tin...

Actually the 2240/13xx platform is very accurate, if Crosman can provide better pellets, things will be much better too ~

Not ALL types of pellets react the same way.....depending on how they initially fit in the breech....

Yes ~ that's true! In my case, the initial fit is tight and without the seater, almost all the time, I can't push all the skirt into the breech. So I maybe getting the best benifit to use a seater to load my pellets on my BE.

And anyone can try to see if this can help or not ~ it's a pity I didn't realize this and record anything when I switched my stock bolt to the after market stainless steel long probe version...
