Yay! I finally have a range where I can shoot - at the local cement plant. I went there to ask if there was any chance I could use his gravel pits a few miles from town and he said why not set up here? Turns out he's a great gun enthuisast, of all kinds and wants to shoot with me. Very cool!
This is a good day! Looking forward to doing some shooting and testing and reporting results on here.
Cheers!
Wes

Sounds good!

Make sure you are well back-stopped down range before any shooting starts...
Earth berms are good~ so is sand piles.

Thanks guys! Yep I'll be shooting into some huge sand/gravel piles about 30 feet high so should be good =)

Fantastic! You are so lucky , I miss the days when I lived back east in (ont) , gravel pits were a common shooting location for just plinking very relaxed etc. Maybe he'd let you build a shooting bench with a cover for shade and rain? Private range is pretty cool.

Good memories I bet! It's possible but I think something portable will be necessary at the place I'll be shooting on the edge of the village, since these piles are their immediate use piles. But out at the pits, maybe so, would be great!

So lucky! I need to visit the local gravel yard and see if there is any chance!

My choice is crown land gravel pits. Most stay inactive for decades at a time, and of course some are dug out to the water table.
I go out of my way to avoid private land...

I’m pretty lucky when it comes to shooting locations . With nearly a dozen gravel pits within a 5 minute drive . Lots of shooting enthusiasts meet up on weekends . It’s priceless when I shoot at 150 yards + with my BB gun . I get at least one or two curious PB shooters who want to know what I’m shooting some even get mad and leave .

Sounds like a good time! You guys are lucky to have those crown gravel pits around. Seems like they are mostly private around here.

Nice work.
I wonder if they have forks for the loader, you could make that covered shooting bench out of a pallet bottom with fork-cliff slots .

Maybe on wheels?

Or just carry it away.

On a trailer?

I like this tripod style for uneven ground.
