Hi,
Just ordered a new HW80 (https://dlairgun.com/products/hw-80-3) and waiting for it to be delivered.
I've seen forums where they talk about this rifle and adding a silencer.
Is this possible? I thought you couldn't in Canada?
If it is possible and permitted in Canada, is it worth it? Does it make a difference?
If so, which is recommended and can it be attached without me having to do anything to the rifle like thread it or file it?
Thanks

Thanks for explanation and confirming my suspicion of being illegal.

They are cool, and imo worth the effort on a springer. Not great since most of the noise in a springer is not coming out the barrel, but I use them when I can.
They really shine on a pcp! A pcp is really loud, like might as well just shoot a 22LR. I modded the one on my MRod and now it's so quiet all you hear is the hammer. So with a springer you'll get ~50% or so noise reduction, but a pcp I'd est 95 to 99.9999%.
Of course you're screwed being in CA where it's likely a felony to have one. I'm in the US so they're pretty lax about it on airguns. So my re: is simply to answer your question about how effective it is.
What you can do is mod the gun to be quieter. I make a plastic liner for the piston to basically silence the coil spring. Your spring shouldn't be bad compared to cheaper guns but even considering that it is imo still more important than a suppressor. You can search for "piston liner" b/c I've posted it a few times, or you can get all the info in a tuning pkg I made that includes a ton of other stuff too. chevota at hotmail and I'll send it. Just remind me who you are, meaning what gun and what you want so I can reply properly.
Outstanding choice on the gun btw! Weihrauch is basically the Mercedes of airguns. The 80 is great, just a bit heavy and hard to cock, but it's the quality and beauty that makes it what it is. The 95 is my fav b/c it's smaller/lighter/cheaper. Of course the 95 has much less power but it's enough for most all the shooting I do. I mention in case you find the 80 to be too much gun. Like I had a 90 once but it was too much, mostly too hard to cock but also so beautiful i was scared to scratch it. So for those two reasons I hardly ever shot it and decided to sell it.
