Hi I was trying out my new fx radar and I couldn’t get it to pick up any shots. So I talked to Travis at ags and he said to try it on uk settings. So I did and it was giving me readings around 500 fps. So I have a different chronograph that I used when I first got my pellet gun and it was reading 900 with 25 grain pellets. So I was shooting 33.95 jsb on fx radar and like I said around 500 fps. So I thought that was a big drop in fps from the different pellet weights. Is that possible for that much of a drop in fps? Also I jumped head first into the pcp world (f**king YouTube=impact x) so I’m hoping some experienced ppl can give me some info?

Heavier pellets do drop the velocity. And how much it can do is depends...

Do you still keeping the old Chrony in hand? So you can verify the numbers...

Do you still have other pellets or the same 25gr pellets in hand? You can also use that to verify the numbers...

The Setting on the FX Chrony is not very complicated but a bit confusing... Basically, you only need to find one that could cover the potential speed range to make it work...

The first chrony I bought was the F1. Yes I have the 25 grain pellets still. I just didnt think it would drop 400 fps going from a 25 gr to a 33 gr. I thought at most maybe 50 fps but that was a uneducated guess.

Hey Ashes1,

Just a quick check - did you enter the pellet weight into your FX Radar's rifle profile before measuring the shot strings?

The difference is 8gr which may do a large dropping...

1gr difference in the .177 pellets through my sub 500 rifles may due 50fps changes...

It looks 400fps for 8gr pellet weight changes is a little too much, but it may still possible...

For most guns, if you were getting 900 fps with a 25 gr. pellet.... with a 34 gr. you should get at least 770 fps.... more likely a bit more....

ok thanks for the info. Also when I was testing it I jammed what I thought was 1 pellet and I couldn’t close the cocking rod so I pulled it back and forth a few times and it didn’t change. So I took barrel off and I got out 3 pellets. I think maybe 1 jammed somehow and then I shoved 2 more in when I was cocking it back and forth. If one pellet was jammed and I loaded a second one would it shoot out both if I closed cocking rod or would the second pellet hit the first pellet and shoot out the first one at 500 fps? Is this possible?

You are right to be concerned..you re shooting a 25 gr. at 45 fpe and then a 34 gr. at 19 fpe?...usually the fpe stays pretty close by switching pellets even though the speed varies...
Here are the speeds from my .177
950 fps with 7.9 gr. 15.8fpe
885 fps with 8.64 gr 15.0fpe
820 fps with 10.5 gr. 15.6fpe
775 fps with 11.57 gr.15.4fpe

Notice the fpe stays relatively the same.....I'd say sometings not right....you should be shooting fairly close to 45 fpe no matter what pellet you use...certainly not 26 fpe difference......

Yes, and that's correct that as Bob mentioned, with the heavy pellet, it should be about 770 and more...

And for double (as said, triple) loading, it's easy to check there is or not still a pellet in the barrel... And make sure everything right before loading/ cocking/ shooting again...

when it jammed I cocked it a few times but it would only go half way forward. Then I stopped and brought gun inside to take barrel off and see if a pellet jammed.

I guess I’ll have to test it again. The only thing I did to the gun was put a side shot mag kit on it. Can taking that back gauge off and possibly putting it on to tight do anything?
