I have not pulled apart my 97, but I was into other HW rifles. All of them had cut down full power springs. So, if you are looking to cut a full power one down, you could just cut a couple coils and try, and try again until you get 499 fps. BTW, None of them were finished - just a straight chop and there you go,

This was from a non-PAL HW77k. Looks about 20.7 cm in length. Buuuut... like Dukemeister said, they didn't exactly dress the end of this spring properly, they just put a couple washers on the piston end probably so the spring won't gouge the piston. Just winged it and sent it to Canada. Just a terrible detuning job from Weihrauch. IMO, you don't need to cut it this short. This rifle was shooting 8.6 gr 4.50 mm field target trophies at 360 fps! My non PAL Stoeger X5 was doing 450 fps with the same pellets. This rifle didn't even have the energy to shoot RWS superdomes (which were a tighter fit than FTTs). It wouldn't budge from the breech. Also, not sure if relevant but OD is 19.94 mm. ID is 14.20 mm and wire thickness is 2.80 mm.

Thanks for the dimensions..

Interesting that there appears to be 25 coils and a slow speed. IIRC the FINISHED Non pal spring for a Diana 24 was 29 coils for very close to 500ft/sec.
