I have had my above 2300T for about 3 years and shoot it twice a week at my local range so it get lots of use. Last week when I loaded a CO2 cartridge I heard air leaking from the barrel (first time ever) and the cartridge was empty in about an hour. I have been advised that the leak is probably due to valve/valve stem but that they are currently back ordered with delivery not anticipated for 4-6 weeks - which is a long time for me to not be shooting this gun - LOL.

Question - I also have a Crosman 2240 that I seldom shoot. Is the valve the same in both of these guns? if so I will do a switch now and replace when a new one is available.

All advice welcomed.

I think the valve stem is the same but the 2300T has less volume in the valve.

I doubt if this is the problem as I have always used a drop of oil on every CO2 cartridge since it was new.

sounds like your valve stem needs to be replaced

Thanks everyone. I agree it appears I need a new valve stem/valve assembly for it. Raman @CSS has advised both of these items are back ordered and not expected to be available for 4/6 weeks. I also have a 2240 and originally thought of taking the valve assembly from it until new ones were available as they appear the same, but after checking my shooting records, I realized my 2300 was giving me 65+ shots per CO2 capsule and the 2240 only 45+ per CO2 capsule, plus crony test confirmed the 2300 is very consistent which is my number one requirement for it.

Using JSB 8.02 grain pellets, my 2300 was giving an average speed of 465.7 fps, with an extreme spread of 6.0 and standard deviation of 1.73. I don't think the 2240 valve would match this overall performance, and I frequently shoot 6 targets (10shots each) which is done with 1-C02 capsule.

I'll patiently wait to hear from Raman when new parts are available.

All responses very much appreciated as they helped in steering my thoughts in right direction.

Bill
