Assuming is bad. You can buy a mini chrony from China in MPS that suppose to be fairly accurate, almost as accurate as a Caldwell. For like 30$, I think actually one of the mod, has 2 for rentals.

I can see how modifying the check valve could alter thing. But if I'm using an unaltered m4 valve and barrel, would the values not be the same? Plus my pump stroke is about 3/4" of an inch shorter, so that should in theory limit overall power at 10 pumps too.

I do intend I buying a crony in time, and will look into the Chinese options you've suggested leadslinger!

I had no idea they were that cheap. $32 with shipping is hard to pass up! The only thing I forgot to question was are these cheap chrony adjustable? How much variation can there be between chronographs? Tuning to 495fps sounds like it could be dicey if not all chrons are alike.

Thanks for all the compliments! The gun is currently stripped and getting prepped for paint, [color=#FF80BF]and it's gonna look hot![color=#000000] More pictures to come in a few days.

Got my new 4x32 scope on my 2289 sighted in yesterday, and I'm happy with it so far. Makes me think I may need to invest in a steel breech for the kiddos 1377 now haha

Oh rabbithole

I have been running for a long time without a chrony and now I got two in the house as a chrony is actually very handy and a basic tool to determine your guns shooting good or not...

One is a FX radar pocket chrony and the the other one is a very cheap buy from Aliexpress. They BOTH working very well after cross checking with other chronies...

The spec of the Chinese one says it can be used to check the falling speed of a drop of water or oil...and it's its commercial application actually... Then up to 1000 m/s. Yes, meter per second. I don't have things flys that fast, but it gave good readings on my guns up to about 600fps... The only cons is it only have metric unit, so you need to transfer numbers into feet as needed...
