2240 Breech screw...

#1 Post by jcrawf »

I was pretty sure I had a wrench that would remove the breech screw on my 2240, but it turns out that its smaller than I thought. What size is this little bugger? Can I get an allen wrench that small at Crappy tire or is it more of a specialty item. Any insight would be appreciated.

You need a good quality 0.050" allen wrench to fit. Clamp in some way to take as much tension off the screw as possible then remove it.
When you reinstall gripp the breech and tube in one hand while you set the screw with only the short end of the wrench to two pinky power strength only! It does not need to be 'tight' just nice.

BTW is that a Broke back Mountain avatar???

Beauty. thanks for the info Voltar. I should be able to pick one of those up at CT. I was looking for metric sizes
Thanks for the walkthrough too. I'm sure its pretty easy to strip if I'm going at it with gorilla hands.
Yeah, thats a brokeback mountain avatar. The IT manager at my office made it as joke and thought it would piss me off. I liked it so I use it for profile pics and avatars. I'm a happily married man but years of playing Hockey and Rugby may have made me a little too comfortable with my manhood and sometimes it gets misinterpreted.
Thanks again for the info.

Jeremy, you are most welcome.

BTW the 0.050" is teh same size as the 1.27mm allen key so worth checking the metric racks as well.
