expired fireman carbon fiber tanks
expired fireman carbon fiber tanks
I picked up two tanks that can't be filled from the scuba shops I go to because they are expired. Does anyone know any other way to uses for them other than a paper weight?

You can use them to set up a cascade system at home i.e. only take a non-expired tank to the scuba shop and top up these at a lower pressure at home. There is rumor that the limit of 15 years may be changed in the near future because field experience has demonstrated that they are still structurally sound after that length of time.

i have a metal one . the people who tested it said the oldest stamp on it was from 1966 , but as long as it keeps passing it's safe . im sure you could use yours at 3/4 pressure . which would be pretty good anyway .
im surprized they dont test them .

Re: expired fireman carbon fiber tanks
If anyone wants these tanks let me know. I know a firefighter that has plenty of these expired tanks. I'm willing to part with both of my tanks for $60. A friend I know from a scuba shop says he can make an adapter for $100 that can fill these tanks from another scuba bottle.
To be honest I'm quite content with my 88 cubic foot carbon fiber tank and 120 steel tank. Purchasing these tanks was my curiousity for pcps.
