Someone posted about Excite Hammer pellets some time ago, and I bought some then.
I've used them both in .177 and .22 with varying results, although I haven't actually methodically tried them in every gun.
But yesterday while testing my list of which guns like which pellets I discovered the ones I had listed for my Nitro Venom didn't really work well at all. They were all around the poi.
(My Nitro Venom is a bit of a problem child. I've cut the stock down twice because I find it so awkward. It's very wide too, so it doesn't just sort of "fall into place" when I shoulder it.)
Anyway I thought I'd try the 14.66 grain Excites.
I shot the first one and it was a couple of inches high of the poi at 10 yards. Oops.
I fired 4 more, and they all went the same place. Pretty much all in one ragged hole.
Ok!
I began adjusting my sights (open sights with a variable elevation front pointed post, and a UTG rear peep sight). I made a couple more ragged holes still not on the poi but I ran out of time and then today I was busy until after supper.
Made more sight adjustments, and made a hole .37" CTC inside my centre spot which is 5/8" across. (so I can see it with open sights).
It was a little to the right side of the spot, so I made an adjustment on the UTG, flipped the target end for end to a new spot, and the next round went right in the centre. I stopped right there.
This isn't a perfect test as it wasn't rested. I shot while seated and both elbows on my knees but I'm, happy with the results.
The pellets are a perfect match for my problem child. I'm sure they'll work well in other guns as well.
And they're $5 for a tin of 250.

H&N Excite Hammer .22
Re: H&N Excite Hammer .22
Oops.
When I referred to the poi, I actually meant the poa (point of aim). Makes actual sense that way.
Peter
PS: All my other guns prefer either JSB or RWS pellets but I'll give the Excites another look.
