I’m not in shock, a follow up story should be how many firearms has the Canadian military lost. People will be shocked to find out

I agree. Are these terrible events the result of incompetence, or corruption, or "don't give a damn", or something else?

Whatever it is, how anyone in the clown show of governments can even imagine that over-regulating and controlling vetted, responsible citizens, can improve the issues that they claim to be addressing....loss for words.

it's almost as though our present government admires totalitarian dictatorships.

Perhaps we can get the attention of these people, if we continue to barrage them with emails, letters, and phone calls? The bureaucrats have quite a lot of power, as was explained to me by a cabinet minister, but they have to fear direct impact to their careers and even employment. If they recognize that they can lose position, lose pay, or even their employment because of public pressure, they will be more motivated to listen.

Just think about it.
How many "members" are there, compared to the "licensed" hundreds of thousands or millions? of gun owners. How many guns have THEY lost?
If any turned up in crimes, THAT would be all over the CBC, CTV, etc., you can be certain of that, the RCMP and government would mandate that exposure.
So - how many times LESS competent does that make the RCMP, than the licensed gun owners? You can bet your butt that if any of those turned up in a crime -
CRICKETS!
My opinion only.

100%!

Read about a study awhile back, where they found licensed gun owners were about 5x less likely to commit a crime than a police officer IIRC.

And I can't be sure, but I feel the ratio would be even larger these days!

I recall a "study" that was between non-licensed which included those with no guns at all and licensed gun owners and it was something on the order or 85% less likely than the unlicensed.
That "study" was less than 5 years ago and included all criminal code laws, not just firearms.

In the big scheme of things... these "lost" are kind of irrelevant.

How many confiscated firearms (or guns turned in for destructions) have been lost?
- They don't know... as they're not really keeping tracks.

How much $$ has been "lost" by various government agencies?

One firearms officer (now retired) once told me that confiscated guns ended up in Victoria when the Prov. Firearms Officer's office was there,
& that confiscate guns would be "gone over" and anything they didn't have in "their museum" would be added, and the rest disposed of "at sea".
