Weihrauch HW30S
Wondering if they have resolved the galling issue on the New HW30S as they have on the HW50S with the delrin insert? I have been reading a lot of reviews and opinions on the HW30S and have not read that they have. I believe Yep Yep suggested some moly paste at one time. I was thinking it might be a little friendlier indoors this winter as opposed to the HW50S. Is there any other issues that anyone has run into. Also are the Weihrauch’s scope friendly?
Re: Weihrauch HW30S
My full power 97's have been, but an HW80 in .177 has ruined two Discovery scopes for me. Lower powered HWs are likely OK.
Best Wishes

I have an HW30 for indoor 10m shooting with a gehman peep sight on it. Have shot probably 3000 pellets through it. Hasn’t skipped a beat and shoots just as well as the first day I got it. I’ve read about the galling issue with some rifles but I don’t think anything was done to fix it.
I like air guns , and they like me

The HW30S is a fine indoor paper puncher. Some rifles experience the galling and others don’t. I had one back in 2002 and it never galled. Thousands of shots went down range too.
The 30S has the nice record trigger, accurate barrel, comfortable stock, nice sights, and easy to disassemble. But my preference would be a wedge lock-up rather than ball bearing. I always wondered how difficult it would be if the spring behind the ball ever wore out. Most wedge style rifles allow access. I changed the wedge spring in my Optimus last summer after approx 20,000 shots. It seemed weak and was an easy task. It’s also convenient to apply moly to spring and wedge while disassembled. I realize that Diana and others still use the ball so maybe they last quite a while.

Thanks all for the reply’s, much appreciated.
Re: Weihrauch HW30S
I applied a little moly on the ball too... thinking that could help making the closing and opening more slicky, and less workload on the spring behind... according to the database, mine should be built around year 2006 and I am not the first owner, so maybe just many many shots on it already. I didn't shoot much tho, I refinished the stock a few years ago because it looks dumb and well used... So seems it must was a hard working horse before~ However, everything still works very well~TCooper wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 2:48 pm The HW30S is a fine indoor paper puncher. The craftmanship and the material used on the German guns are quite high quality, they should be long lasting~
If you don't want a ball bearing.... how about a HW35E?? D&L finally have their Weihrauch shipment arrived after years of waiting... The classic in the classics, the HW35E is a very detailed nice Weihrauch springer without doubt!!
