Custom Beretta M92 A1 Grips?
Custom Beretta M92 A1 Grips?
So I've got my UMAREX S&W M&P40 and my UMAREX Beretta M92 A1. Both are super high quality and realistic. I'm very impressed. I got the M&P40 cuz I have a real .40 cal M&P 40 and I wanted the UMAREX version for practise, plinking and because I can use it in a few more areas than a restricted firearm, such as in the great outdoors, and BB's are much more economical that real ammunition. I got the Beretta M92 A1 for the fun factor, being full auto. The Beretta M92 A1 is significantly heavier. I'm guessing that being it's got the full auto feature it might be subject to higher stresses, and it is slightly larger physically.
I legally own 4 other real hand guns and all have custom grips. There's a wide selection from known brand custom grip makers as well a very big selection from other vendors online and at Amazon. I'm wondering if a set of custom grips that fit the real Beretta M92 would just "plug-and-play" on the UMAREX M92 A1? Or are there custom grip makers who sell for pellet and BB pistols?
Doe anyone have any information about this and might be able to point me in the right direction?

Nice grips. I've bought a bunch of different stuff from AliExpress and have had all good experiences. I clicked on your link but couldn't get to that particular posting. What I did see was pretty much the same as I can find on Amazon and eBay and prices were similar. Actually at Amazon, a lot of the items offer free shipping and much quicker shipping.silentman wrote:I beleive that they are identical, I bought on aliexpress.com a set of grip for my airsoft WE Tech M9A1 and they fitted perfectly no modif...

It appears from your photos that your M9A1 doesn't have the little switch on the right side to go from semi-auto to full-auto like the UMAREX M92 A1 is able to do? I'm thinking any of the grips from reputable quality manufacturers will probably fit OK except for maybe not having clearance for the semi-auto/fill-auto switch. I might have to file or sand a bit of material so that switch would function OK and not bind.
I'm still looking. So far I'm liking the LOK Beretta 92 Thin Veloce either in Black or the Dark Red and Black.....

I like your grips here! The inside of the grip kind of flat or is it like the inside of the stock grips with that middle rise? on the stock grips can you grind off that oval lip or will that make the grip move around would you think?
Thanks

I'm still looking for a set of custom grips to fit my UMAREX Baretta. Has anyone else had any luck?

Lot's of places try Googling..., AliExpress could be cheapest, Ebay , mine on Amazon were pricey, next time Ali
Wondering if I should hollow a bit of inside top of grip. It doesn't really effect the the hold of grip. I really like them and they are thinner too, Don't like that it sticks up where the full auto lever is though. Might be hard to see in this pic. There Red/Black...

They look OK. Can you send the link to the place you bought them? The 3rd pic you sent is quite dark so it's not clear how well they fit around the full auto switch.

Re: Custom Beretta M92 A1 Grips?
Yes, I see what you mean. Actually, since I posted the original question, I took a chance and did buy a set of grips. I had the same problem with the grip on the right side interfering with the full auto switch. I used my Dremel to try and grind out some clearance but I screwed it up and had to abort that plan. There wasn't enough beef on the custom grips to allow grinding out clearance for the switch. I don't really want to spend another $50 for another set of grips just to experiment and have the same problem in the end. It would be nice to find someone that has found a nice looking set of grips that will be able to work. If anyone knows where to find a set please let me know.

Re: Custom Beretta M92 A1 Grips?
Would it be possible to make a set of spacers from 1/8 inch sheet material? I did this on a couple of other pistols simply to give me a thicker grip. Admittedly they were not as complex as the Beretta profile, but it might be a solution to the problem. I would just do the outer perimeter of the grip, where it contacts the frame.
Re: Custom Beretta M92 A1 Grips?
Interesting idea, but I think to make them look proper, specialized detailed machining would be needed. If a person has the means themselves that would be OK but likely very cost prohibitive for the average guy. Also, the M92 A1 already has a quite chunky grip and to make that even bigger might be an uncomfortable fit for people with smaller hands.
Re: Custom Beretta M92 A1 Grips?
So it is hard to see exactly how things are in the picture, but in terms of grinding out a slot, there may be some options? I've not done anything like this modification, but these are my thoughts.
You can probably use epoxy to fill in any areas that are removed or add some support to areas to strengthen the setup in anticipation of removing material. You can just put the grip on a flat surface and put 2-part in where you need. You can grind the epoxy after it is set, so if you add too much to fit the mechanism, you can hollow it back out later. You may need a little paint touch-up later if some is showing once mounted.
That's how you might add material. Removing material, the dremel is probably a good option. In terms of doing so precisely, though, this is where jigs can be useful. So with the grip clamped down with the exterior surface down, you could add metal shims right beside it to build up the height so that your dremel can only go down the depth of the lever before it hits the metal. You can grind metal, of course, but it should provide enough of a stop and visual/audio clue to keep you from going too far. You could also clamp in stops to either side to prevent the dremel from travelling too far in either direction. You're basically building a little box of metal and the dremel moves within that to cut the perfect slot. You can then tidy up the corners etc. with a fine file (I like the triangular ones for this sort of stuff). If the geometry of the grips allow for that at all, that is the way I'd go about it.
Cheers,
Dave
