Which is the better gun for plinking and small game (songbirds, mice...)?

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

None of those is good for hunting, Try the 2240, you get better chance.

I can't imagine trying to hit a bird or a squirell with my 357. we were shootin a pumpkin from 6 metres and the pellets bounced off of it.

if you goal is killing a bird then a 357 with the 6 or 8 inch barrel should do it other wise a 2240 would do a much better and cleaner job..the cpport well we could write a book on that gun, but to choose 357 or cpsport i would go 357 every time..it has more speed and produces more energy and its more accurate then the sport and will also outlast the sport in a heart beat...

The357 with the 8" barrel has more power and accuracy then the 4" & 6" barrel.
But the 2240 has about twice the killing power on cat food cans anyway.

Cp sport is not a hunting gun by any means nor is the 357. Crosman is more powerful with 6 and 8in barrels and is more accurate. So I guess I vote for 357, but I’d much rather have Umarex S&W

The first airgun I ever owned was my CP Sport. Fun gun for plinking, but not for hunting. I shot a squirrel square in the chest from about four meters. It got knocked backwards but then ran up a tree and sat there to catch it's breath. Then it disappeared.

The following week I went and bought a rifle.

Someone else mentioned the 2240, if you're going to buy a C02 pistol and you have enough money to buy a CPS or 357, the 2240 is buy far more bang for your buck. Not to mention the modability, and out of the box power and accuracy. The bigger .22 cal is more suited to hunting over the .177 which is fine at higher energy levels. But the CPS and 357 make very little muzzle energy, 3fpe's if your lucky. While the 2240 out of the box should do around 5-5.5fpe's, that's almost twice the power and the .22 pellet holds the energy longer giving you better range abilities. Good luck,
