Pyramid Air - be carefull

#1 Post by Tailgunner »

Just ordered 70cdn worth of pellets with 30cdn shipping charge for a total of 100cdn. Nice young lady :D just phoned prom Pyramid Air to confirm and also advised that there would be an extra 30cdn charge. I asked 'what for' and she said it was because it was being exported. (so much for belonging to NAFTA). I asked her specifically who got this money and she didn't know but did say that they ship by FedEx  ............ I suspect that this might be a FedEx brokerage charge but she couldn't confirm this. I then asked if they could ship USPS to which she replied 'yes'......... but she couldn't tell me how much. She's going to call back tomorrow and advise total costs via USPS.............. and we'll go from there.

I'll report back after I hear from her. If it turns out that this is an export charge applied by Pyramid then there's little point in ordering from them at all as a 43% price increase (30$ on top of 70$) is simply ridiculous considering that there will also be Canadian Customs charges on the shipment as well.

I will update this thread when I know more.

Anyone else dealt with them?????

Cheers -Gus

EDIT - oh crap - the order charges also included 4.85US tax - but I just noticed that the Pyramid Air ad RIGHT UNDER THIS MESSAGE says "no sales tax". I believe that I might just start to become a wee unhappy.

Wow ..... you must order somekind of special pellets .....
Sounds to me that you'll be paying about 5 cents per pellet ......
shoot them wisely, that's about the cost of expensive rimfire bullets.

LOL :D - naw - there's 8 tins of pellets in the order - I wanted a whole bunch that I'd never shot before to try them out - I live in a small town and the local Co-op handles only one brand and only one type of that brand.

Later - Gus

yikes...never ever use Fedex or UPS for international shipments...they make the Vikings look like amateurs when it comes to raping and pillaging....

Buying scope from USA

#7 Post by papaburger »

I want to buy a Bug-buster Leaper scope from US. Will I see a similar problems with Fedex, custom and etc ?

How about a metal breech for my 2289 from a USA manufacturer?

Speaking of gold plated , I have seen a picture of what seems to be some brass-plated pellet. The name is

Spit Kugeln (Walther labeled, pointed 4.5 mm, made in germany).
here is the website.

Where can I buy something similar ?

Have you tried the Beeman hollowpoints from C-Tire? I've only seen them in .177 but they are kind of gold in colour. They must be lighter, I get a 30-40 fps boost in velocity with them.

PM me for FTP/valve combos, RVAs, DPHs and assorted brass accents

Yeah, it's normal, that's what happens when you get something from the US shipped via UPS or Fed Ex or even DHL. They charge a flat fee (usually like $30US or so) to prepare the border inspection papers. I got screwed over once a few years ago when I ordered a $20US item which ended up costing me $100US with all of their fees, shipping charges, and taxes...

I try to order everything from Canada anyways. Why not support our economy I say?

Hi Todd - I was not aware of this - many thanks for the heads-up. I would much rather buy CDN if possible.

Hi Rennugliat,

All the pellets in the list I posted above are available from 3 Canadian dealers. The web links can be found at the Canadian Airgun Dealers link I posted.

AirgunsOnly
Russell Sports
D&L Airgun

The exception is the Xisico pellets. Sunny should still have some of these.

Good news - the folks at Pyramid contacted me and advised that they will be happy to ship USPS. Even better news...... the original postage of 30CDN through FedEx has dropped to 15CDN and there is no brokerage fee (of an extra 30CDN).

I will in future, however, seek my pellets at Canadian outlet locations as kindly supplied by Todd.

Cheers - Gus :D
