my new/old 1377 - velocity results!!

#1 Post by killercrow »

hey guys, i got my crosman parts in the mil today, from k&s airguns. a while back i acquired an old model 1377 with a bad seal, so i didnt hesitate to buy a bunch of new parts  among those are a 24" 177 barrel, new valve and some other goodies. got her all put together, and seems to shoot good. i have a question though! my gun will dump 24 pumps with no modifications... is that normal? 10 pumps is death slow... so confused...
i dont have access to a cam right now, or id post some pics... maybe tomorrow.

It could be slower to the longer barrel having more resistance on the pellet, therefore you may need to pump it more.

But the longer barrel is supposed to increase velocity. Atleast it did for my 1377. But I also did those 13xx valve mods. The longer barrel isn't going to make the valve hold more air.

this i know, but it does hold 24 pumps... dont ask me why :? i did a bunch of testing and 24 is the max, any more and theres air left in the valve. oh, and i put in a brand new pump cup too. when you open the pump fully, should there be a space open in front of the cup?

24 pumps eh. You must have one souped up valve lol. I just wonder how many pumps it would take with the mods? maybe 50? Yes there should be a space between the the pumpcup when you pull the pump out all the way.

alrighty, i fixed the problem with the pump cup. im using a backpacker barrel clamp, so it was in the way of the pump handle. the gun still takes 24 pumps though... wierd  oh well, im not complaining! the gun shoots real hard, not sure the speed, since my chrony doesnt like me today... but maybe tomorrow! heh, and i have a spare valve too, so i can mod the hell out of it!

My 1377c takes 30 pumps with the valve mods. And shoots even harder with the 1760 barrel I put on it. At 20 feet with 30 pumps it almost shot straight through a 2x4.

I bet with a few more mods to your 1377 you could get it pulling numbers like mine. These pistols can get up to a real good velocity if you let them.

Well first I did the mod where you file down the teflon valve stem head. Then I put in a lighter valve spring. Next I filled in the bleed hole with epoxy and then put on the 1760 barrel. now all i'm waiting for is the metal 2200 piston.

Nope didn't even touch the exhaust port. No I did not cut the threads of the male inside. I will post a picture of my 1377 when it's all finished up. We can both compare them.

I painted my pump black to match the rest of the gun. Because I also have the shoulder stock on it.

yeah? i kinda like them wood grips... the pump handle thats on it now pinches me... lots of swearing involved  i guess its too small. but ultimately, i need to build a stock or something... a pistol with a 24" barrel is just too much for me

i wonder how cedar would turn out? that would be easy to carve out!
