What should it be

#1 Post by link_dc »

Well im gonna go to a shooting range, and they said that they have a Chrono that i could use to test my air rifle. I dont know where they sell really light pellets, i only have crosman copperhead pointed (the .177s in a green tin) the muzzle velocity of my gun is suppose to be around 495 fps, but thats suppose to be with really light pellets right? well what should the fps be with the copperhead pellets?

I looked but couldn't find any pointed copperhead pellets in my collection to test.....I think they are 7.9g if memory serves me well....as for good?or bad?...this gun has good accuracy with open sites, it smooth when loading ...looks good.....shots good...no complaints here ....previous test was with copperhead rounds....
Have fun and shoot straight.......

20 Crosman "hunting" pellets in .177 weight 10.4g. . . that's 0.52g each or 8.0 grains.

20 Crosman Premier Ultra Magnum pellets weight 13.6g . . . thats 0.68g each or 10.49 grains.

20 Beeman hollowpoints weight 9.2g or 0.46g each . . . thats 7.09 grains.

That's all I have for .177 cal pellets.

I might be wrong but I believe they test with average weight, 177 is 7.9 and 22 is 14.3.

in a perfect world, 7.9 grains would be 495 fps. I am sure it is different from one manyfaturer to another.
