in a perfect world, 7.9 grains would be 495 fps. I am sure it is different from one manyfaturer to another.
what about crosman products? are they ussually pretty close to there advertised velocity?
no idea

don't stress over the velocity too much. If it shoots accurately, consistently and is not too underpowered you've gotten away clean.

what would they fix? :? I mean just because shoots at less than the maximum advertised velocities doesn't mean it's broken. You/they might be able to modd it though...
what grain do they test them with at the factory?
I read somewhere that they test guns with 0.5grams or 6.9gr pellets for 0.177... but 0.5g is actually 7.7gr.... :? Anyways my guess for what they use would be 7.5gr or less. Keep in mind though that pellet weight is not the only thing that effects velocity, pellet fit matters as well; basiaclly tighert fitting pellets will have a higher velocity.

Btw I just got a scale that can measure 1/20 of a grain :o , but I don’t feel like massing around with weighting pellets. :P
