What's the take on the HW 100 ?

#1 Post by cdf »

I'm thinking about a precharged repeating sporter . Is this a good way to go ? I'm a bit leary of the Brit. guns , issues like dealer support , QC , and parts availability .

I'm gratefull for any and all input .

If you're thinking about serious airgun and have the budget, I'll say go for it. HW100 is the ultimate of an excellent airgun. I got one and ETA got one. ETA is my Master of HW100.
BTW. it's not the Brit. gun, it's GERMAN.
I took the HW100 apart in little pieces, it's amazing engineering as you can see above "airgunfun post, the thread from ETA".
I don't think you will see any part that will to wrong. Parts and availability won't be a problem as D&L is stocking it up now.

Thanks for the links and input . When I was refering to Brit . guns , I meant creatures like the Daystate , and some of the other Brit precharged guns . Since it's an expensive purchase , I'm doing my homework .

Another sporter I/m considering is the HW 97 , I know it's a different animal -being a springer an all . I've only heard good things about it as afr as smoothness and accuracy are concerned .

The build quality looks awsome , based on ETA's pics .

Ahh, you are making me blush Sniper. I am no master. Just like to tinker with airguns. I wish I can spend more time getting to know the HW100 even better, but it is just not in the books. I am total swamped with work and family stuff.

cdf,
If you don't have a budget. The HW100 is the way to go. A very finely engineered multi-shot PCP. High quality German design and construction. More accurate than most shooters.
I definitely prefer the HW100 over my tuned HW97. Operation of the HW100 is effortless and a whole bunch easier to be dead on target.
Don't over look a HW95/R9 if you are into sporter/hunter springer. It is a lot easier to handle and load than the HW97.

I you are on a budget. Another very nice PCP is the CZ200T/Avanti Valiant/Air Arms S200B with a factory 10 shot magazine kit. Very easy to adjust and use. Adjustable target stock is very comfy with lots of accessory mount options. Typical CZ accuracy, which is on par with the HW100.

ETA , budget is always a factor . I've learned the hard way that sometimes it's more cost effective to skip entry level and intermediate steps . You clearly know your stuff , your opinion firms up my thoughts .

Thanks,

Believe it or not.
I like the CZ200T just as much as the HW100.
I really depends what you need. My HW100 is a .22cal and the CZ200T is .177cal.
The CZ200T is lighter, more compact and handier. The adjustable stock is adjusted to fit very comfortably. It is the perfect general purpose plinking PCP that rarely miss its targets.
For heavy duty with precision, it is the HW100.

Get both. :P

The CZ looks like a nice piece , and the stock adjustments are a good idea . Looks like a tuff descision .

Hi Chris, don't make it look like a tuff decision, just pick one now .....
flip a coin or something and then get the other one later.
Those two guns definitely you can't go wrong.
