Searching for "near perfect" round lead balls in 2
Having great difficulty in finding the URL's to any manufacturer that makes for airguns.... 22 calib round lead balls that will roll straight without serious wobble or stopping on a flat glass surface.
Anyone have any leads, or have in their possession lead balls this good?. Thank's -Larry

Larry, have you actually searched out Ballistic Products Inc. yet?LarryS wrote:Having great difficulty in finding the URL's to any manufacturer that makes for airguns.... 22 calib round lead balls that will roll straight without serious wobble or stopping on a flat glass surface.

I've said this a number of ways and still is solid advice!
Get the Size 'F' buckshot that Ballistic offers.
Just do it......

Thanks for input thus far.....
I am conducting research & testing of 22 calib lead balls for air rifles.
Part of the testing is:
1. Determining if each brand of ball is sufficiently round enough for the lands & grooves to ALWAYS grip the ball ENTIRELY around its perimeter. A band of rifling marks should be visible when shot into a soft target for ball recovery.
2. Whether the surface finish will effect accuracy. .eg., Smooth, vs coarse or rough molding process.
3. Relative muzzle impact energy (K.E.) by a stationary impact graph for comparison of the balls. Composition and production methods can effect this. This test will be repeated at 50 feet. (~17.5 meters).
4. Muzzle Velocity differences that may exist.
5. Anything else that makes a difference to a shooter that occurs to me.
Walter(who appears to be a precision 22 cal. ball shooter), has repeatably pointed out Ballistics products Type F round lead shot is very good. I am in contact with them. I have Lobo round lead balls on the way now. I have been unable to find a source for H&N or Gamo 22 calib lead balls.... they seem to only supply .177. So the info given me on them may be wrong.
I now need to check on Apolo & Hornady..... The comment on Apolo does not sound very good!. Maybe he can ellucidate a bit more on why he thinks they performed so badly.... it will help all of us.
Hornady may be selling copper clad balls which is something I need to check on.
Anyway.... when everything is assembled the test data will be posted with photo's similar to some of the prior tests already posted on the Crosman forum. This forum will be my posting area on any future technical information. -LarryS

Have you been in contact with Jocelyn at Targets Canada Cibles? He may be able to source them for you. Good guy to know.

Outstanding URL Rob!!
That URL from you is a dream come true for .177 shooters Rob!
I have e-mailed them for any info they might have on manufacturers of Air Rifle .22 calib round balls. Sure wish someone had a complete listing of that caliber on a site similar to theirs!!.
If I get into .177..... that URL is the perfect source of precision pellets.
Thankyou. Larry S. Yuba City, California

Walter, have you ordered from them? If so, any problems?Voltar1 wrote:Larry, have you actually searched out Ballistic Products Inc. yet?LarryS wrote:Having great difficulty in finding the URL's to any manufacturer that makes for airguns.... 22 calib round lead balls that will roll straight without serious wobble or stopping on a flat glass surface.

Thanks, George
Come and visit ..Doctor Frankenguns Airgun Forum..
I order my buckshot from the dealer in Alberta.
Size F for .22
000 for 9mm and it all shoots straight.
Some of the .22 is a bit tighter but flies true in a gun with enough power to shoot them. Good for pistol distances at least.
In my .25 I use #3 from Hornady and it is awesome accurate.
Walter...
Wish there was a buckshot in .32 size (0.310")
