About modding my 1322 for power...

#1 Post by simko »

Question

i want to mod my 1322, but i dont want to b e pumpnig it 50 times.

i heard of guys getting like 600fps from 10 pumps, and almost 700 at 20.

right n ow for target shooting i pump 15 times

my gun will dump 30pumps of air in one shot already

my gun has a 14" barrel, and a 2240 port.

what mods do i do to have it with the TONS OF POWER, but without having to pump it 50 or so times?.

thanks

for max capacity with a low number of pumps you need more volume going into the valve with each pump. do all the internal valve mods. do the exhaust and transfer ports. use a stronger hammer spring, or shim it... build a flat faced pump piston, and cut the intake of the valve so its flat, also put a small sleeve in the intake port so theres less air wasted when pumping. anything to make that hole smaller, it DOES make a difference no matter how significant it may seem. now, with the .22 barrel i dont know if you'll benefit from a longer one. cant hurt to try though. if its slower with a 24" barrel, cut off a couple inches and see if that helps.
yeah, i think thats all. someone here mentioned making a double piston pump. i think it was papaburger. that might be quite difficult though. it would be easier to fab up a bigger main tube. then you could put in a larger piston in one end, and where the valve an hammer goes, either have a sleeve installed, or have it machined out one piece. you would theoretically be able to pump up to max capacity with very few pumps. would be lots of work involved, but in my eyes, it would be worth it!

yeah man! do all that. its what i did. look for my other posts here, i think i explained everything i did at least 5 times  gotta keep my progress posted! but that link you showed me should explain it all. just be careful around the valve stem seat, if you nick it, the valve will never hold air. unless your good with a dremel you might be able to polish it back out.
remember though, you do just the volume mod and your gonna have to pump the hell out of it. thats where the flat piston comes in handy, 30 pumps to max capacity for my setup, but 20 is ok too.

i think i ruined my valve :D :D :D :D :D

GAT DAMNIT $%A@#% #$% # A$$HOLE MONKEY$%#$ER

i sealed the valve bleed hole with solder, then i ground part of the pointed part of the valve (looks like a penis head) and thats it.

put the gun together, now when i pump it, at the end of the pump stroke the air just gets let out , it goes through hte barrel.

did you mess up the valve seat? where the valve seals on that ring. did you change the inner spring? it might be too short, or light, which will require partial or full cocking in order to pump.

I am having difficulty understanding why this mod would give more volume per pump. :-k Removing the cone on the valve body and making a flat faced piston should not change the volume. :?

update:

i acquired a 2289 valve, plugged the bleed hole with it

with my gun , 14" barrel, and this stock vaslve at 15 pumps it drives a .22 wadcutter pellet about 1/4" into oak. so im happy withpower for this, im going to go sight it in and see what it shoots like at 30 pumps

metalmuncher, thats what i thought also... but it works :P instead of 50 pumps, im at 30 now. because of the 90 durometer orings i installed, im thinking im getting more pressure as well.
