muzzle burr

#1 Post by papaburger »

I was reading the following link

http://www.iowadsl.net/~jpcraig/old/air ... _tips.html

Is muzzle burr bad for accuracy ?

I did the Q-tip test on my IZH-53M pistol and the cotton was pulled ( I cannot hit a beer can at 5 meter with it anyway :( , always shot high, big big grouping)

Every gun, air and .22 rimfire, I've removed muzzle burrs from was more accurate afterwards. I have used used are the brass screw with JB Bore Cleaner Paste, pointed Cratex rod and felt Dremel tool with polishing compound. All of those methods worked for me. If the crown is off center or really rough I dress it up in my lathe first then use the above methods to polish it.

Hell yeah....muzzle burr is a terrible thing for accuracy!!! Follow the advice and clean it up. It's very easy...just take it slow. With a brass screw and some polishing compound ought to do the trick unless there's a terrible nick or gouge and it shouldn't do any harm.
