Slavia 631 Butchi spring install and lube tune

#1 Post by KPB*WPG »

Well I finally found a local replacement for Macarri Tar its Keystone Lubricants open gear compound, I also picked up Dow Corning Moly-Powder and Dow Corning compound silicone.

Moly 29 right out of the tube (using sparingly) on the outside of the spring.
I inserted rolled paper to try and limit the tar application to the outside as best I could.

Moly Paste was made with a 50/50 mix between the powder and silicone.
MolyLube was made with a 20/80 mix between powder and 20wt.non detergent oil.

To start with the diagram doesnt lend much on disassembly. Fortunately the instructions from Jordan Batchuarov gave his insights to this end. Unlike others (I assume) the end screws off and Jordan suggests making a block to fit. I went one step further and also drilled a hole and used the screw that holds the end through the stock. You can see in the picture but it made it easier as the block would now stay with the end cap both unscrewing and screwing when done.

The trigger came out easily after removing the pin. Reinserting trigger (after tarring spring and cleaning and lubing the piston with paste) was done after application of MolyLube to all points of contact.

The added force of the longer spring proved a little difficult when trying to screw it back together. It didnt help that I got it all together and had to open it back up since I forgot to put the spring guide in the spring the first time.

To finish it all off I MolyLubed all joints and springs located throughout the rifle.

The twang is now gone and it seems to shoot harder.

Hope this helps someone.

It shoots as nice as everyone says they should. Smooth and crisp after a proper lube.

My daughter and son are getting together to buy me an F1 Chrono for my birthday. Hopfully I'll have some numbers in a week or two.

Hoping to get the info on spring?

I was hoping to find out where you had purchased the spring and perhaps the the cost of it? Any info on this would truly be appreciated. I love this little rifle and I know my spring is worn, so now would be the perfect time for alittle performance boost. I have heard so many people stating that the slavias start to get harsh if power mods are done, I guess you have picked the right spring for the application. Interested in the chrony read outs.

Thanks in advance :)

PM sent.

Found out about springs available on "Yellow Forum" @ gunbrokers.com

Jordan Batchvarov is a good guy to deal with.
