barrel making

#1 Post by airgunnut1 »

I haven't been monitering the forum to well for a while now. It is great to see that they have a section for mods. Here is a site you might be interested in that has a really good section on barrel making.

THX for the link.
Very interesting reading, it's totally NOT easy to make a barrel especially a really good one. No wonder there are quite a bit bad ones out there.

Interesting about Pratt & Whitney, I thought they only make airplane engine but rifling machine as well .....wow.....

here is another interesting point:
"Today, barrel hammering machines are built by Gesellschaft Fur Fertigungstechnik und Maschinenbau (GFM) in Steyr, Austria. They cost about a half a million dollars and can spit out a barrel every three minutes."
Very good investment .......

There's an extra [/url] tag in the link. delete the last 5 characters and it should work for you.

Interesting this, i do not know whether there were any supply problems over the last 16 months but some Russian Steyrs have got Anchutz barrels on, so they say but definately a different diameter.
