My understanding of springers they need a restrictive port to make power, control piston so it won't slam into the end of the compression chamber, not the place to change IMHO.
The port on my Quest 500 is 0.125" diameter. 1000 should be the same
Walter...
Different guns detuned different way as for the Quest 500 to 1000, you have to change the spring and the piston. Most Diana's are just the spring and so HW as well. BSA SuperSport just open up the set screw that is restricted the port...... the easiest gun to mod about 1 minute job.

Sniper, do you know what the 1000 has for a spring?
What should be expected from an aftermarket spring?
TIA Walter....

The two part # that you need:

C1K77-003 PISTON
C5K77-010 PISTON SPRING

I'm not sure about the after market one but perhaps you can James Maccari about that and usually for Crosman is similar to R9.

Gunrunner, played some more with mine. Tightened up the spring installed height, had some very sticky white valve grease and applied that to the spring, spray Moly plus some metal treating oil to the piston.
Shoots at 860fps now. The 'tar' seems to give the spring some support and the metal/metal sproing is gone.
Eagerly waiting for your next hints to improve. Still not over 900 ;) ;)

Try Diana 36 or 34 .177, you won't be disapointed.

Barrel port. Voltar

#40 Post by Gunrunner »

As you mentioned a few posts above how import it is not to change the size of the port to keep the piston from slaming, also not to make it smaller, if you did the barrel shims with the stainless washer make very sure the barrel hole and the port is lining up .. hold the gun up and were the barrel connect to the fork you should see some light come through .. make sure there even the light on both sides to centre the barrel to the port .. or slide a wooden dowel down the barrel just a touch smaller then 177 and it should go right into the port hole .. if not now your restricting the port ..
Great job.. Voltar. what pellet did you 860 with ..?

Gunrunner, this little gem is working out real great
Gonna work over the barrel shims and possibly a new bushing. I will check the porting as you mentioned. The pellets were just some nothing specials I had laying around so don't know the weight but I do know I started with 450fps and now am up to 860fps. Very pleased for sure!!!!
Walter.....
BTW that Diana will be 3x the cost I venture.
Not 3x the quality!
Cheers,

D36 is one of very popular airgun from Diana as well as the D34. D36 which shoot very accurate and crisp on the trigger, beautiful stock, smooth cocking, it's a nice gun all around. new spring at 1010 fps, 2 years later 980 ....price at 450.
