Sexy QB Mod Part 2
Sexy QB Mod Part 2
After much sanding and 5 coats of Tru-Oil. Lightly buffed final finish with 000 steel wool to remove the gloss.
Very well fitting and comfortable stock.
It is a stock QB78 action and barrel with: moderate valve internal mod, extended slim probe, port mod, custom barrel shroud and RJM metal band.
It is equipped with Tasco V/T 2.5-10x42AO mil dot and BKL mounts.

Thanks guys!!!
Webstien,
The heavier laminate stock improved the balance of the QB, less nose heavy. The more vertical thumb hole grip is a lot more comfortable to hold. Not quit mouse fart, but a lot better than stock.
Lauchlin,
I got the stock from Richard Microfit Gunstocks in the US. They now do QB78 inletting on all their stocks. http://rifle-stocks.com/
I might make a black 7/8"OD extension handle for the cap to fill up the void and shorten the shroud.
Down the road maybe a longer Cro-Moly tube body for a PCP conversion.

That is an excellent question killercrow. I spent a lot of time pondering that question. The stock came with a very elegant long forestock. I did not want to turn it into an ugly stubby stock. I did some photo editing to see how it looked shortened. Not good. The stock QB have an unusually long barrel. The longer forestock make it look shorter and more proportional. So, I enlarge the inletting at the front for access to the cap. It is a bit fiddly. No pain no gain.killercrow wrote:thats very nice! one question though, are you gonna leave the forearm like that, or cut it to fit?

Thanks Todd,TCooper wrote:Very nice! Are you planing on using bulk fill or powerlets with this rifle? It looks like removing/replacing the end cap could be tricky... or am I missing something?
Toss
It is a bit tricky. A bit tight in the finger space. Once loosen, the cap goes down a bit and out through the channel.
Thanks Sniper!
Killercrow, you can get stocks without inletting from Richard Microfit and inlet it yourself for any action. I can imagine the vast amount of work that go into carving one of these stocks out of a block of wood instead of using a duplicator.
Here is a pic of the QB without the shroud, about 2.5" shorter. More balanced look.
