Interchanging parts

#1 Post by RM422 »

I was wondering if anybody could tell me if parts from any crosman springers will fit in my RM422. All I really need is a new nylon piston head but since parts aren't available for any of the RM series anymore I'm kind of up the creek if i can't get any parts. I was thinking that maybe the 795 or quest could interchange pistons with my RM422. If someone can tell me that would be greatly appreciated.

I've done many experiments with RM422, bought 2 of them from Lebaron.
I still couldn't figure out why I bought two of them, perhaps because it was very accurate for short distance, for a low power gun and very cheap in price. Very poor design trigger mechanism. Simple design springer that can be taken apart and put back together in less than half hour.

Replacement spring to up the power.

Now this is what I'd like to do but I haven't got the time for it.
1. try out my spare mp512m nylon seal on rm422 since the diameter is exactly the same and the rear mounting is very much the same but NOT 100% sure untill I actually try it on.
2. This is recommendation from JM, shave down the head of the piston, drill and tap to fit the Diana 24 seal on it, which I have plenty in stock as well.

I hope this will help you.

Happy shooting.

Mendoza Parts

#3 Post by RossB »

You could try ordering parts directly from Mendoza.
They have a "CONTACT" section on their website (www.productosmendoza.com).
They may refer you to a service centre/parts dealer who will ship to Canada.

So the Diana 24 will interchange pistons heads with the RM422 is what your are saying right? If so I know a gun shop who carries lots of diana parts. By the way my RM422 was doing over 500fps out of the box until it broke down. Then when I ordered new parts from crosman canada they made it even more powerful until they broke down as well. As I mentioned in previous posts they were the very last parts they had for the RM series.

Not exactly. I showed JM about the piston and the seal
and he came up with the idea to modify the piston which is
a very good idea since diameter wise is about the same
and Diana seal is much more superior.
Shave down or thin out the head plate so more room for
the counter sink screw head to sit there. Drill out the centre
and tap it to fit the screw thread and it's all done.

So tap out the hole for the diana piston head to fit on the RM422 piston right? If thats the case wont the diana piston just fit in the RM422? I'm sorry if I'm not quite understanding the information you have given me.

Thanks man. I mean I sort of know what your are saying but some parts I don't. It's funny I have been a long time airgunner and have been modding them for a quite a while yet sometimes I don't understand the simplest things.

CUT THE SEAL HOLDER PART.
PERHAPS IT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT CUTTING BUT THEN IT MIGHT
SLAM TOO CLOSE TO TEH WALL INSIDE THE CYLINDER.

Thank you very much Sniper. I will try that this weekend if I can get a hold of the the Diana 24 piston seal from the local gun shop. Thanks again. Is there anything else I could do?
