well... if its anything like the crosman pumpers maybe you can adapt some of those mods for your daisy.

1) Try increasing valve volume (if its an all metal valve like the crosmans)
2) Drill out a larger transfer port or replace it with plastic tubing
3) Eliminate 90 degree turns in the valve output port
4) increase hammer spring tension if it has one
5) use a softer valve spring if it has one

I can help you more if I find some schematics.

If its anything like my Powerline 856. . . not much mod potential.

The potmetal valve is small. Aside from drilling into the piston for extra volume and messing about with springs I can't see any place where one might make any significant gains. There's a steel pin pressed into the bottom of the valve and the barrel is pressed into the valve body. No hope for enlarging or re-angling the tranfer port either.

Overall I would say that Daisy does not have very mod friendly designs.

PM me for FTP/valve combos, RVAs, DPHs and assorted brass accents

auctually on the daisy 856 the candian version the piston is drilled already because it is what detunes the daisy 856,, for american power out put on the daisy 856 you need a flat face cup for max pressure and volume of air intake,....as for mods i agree really nothing out there at all for the 856. the 840 is a sinlge pump if i remeber right and like the crosman 781 the only thing you can maybe do cause not every gun is the same design is put in regual every day black orings the are a bit thicker this will help with a tiny bit more pressure on the single pump of the 840....

Get a Quest 500 or a beeman 1041, depending on if you like scopes or iron sights. (Quest sucks with scope, awesome with iron sights, and the 1041 has no iron sights, but has a nice scope and is fairly accurate with it).

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.
