Does it posible that a gun cant be accurate with a scope?

This is the place to talk about everything airgun related including air rifles, air pistols, pellet guns, pcp airguns and more.

I cant be accurate with my quest i put on a BSA 3-7x20. Does it because i need a one piece mount or because the gun cant be accurate with a scope?

Hi Dan,

Check the hinge for movement. Maybe the hinge bushing needs to be shorter to allow for a tighter grip from the receiver forks. Maybe the plastic washers could be replaced with metal washers. A solid lock-up should give good results with optics. You just have to find the problem.

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

what kinda pellets are you using in the quest. maybe try a differnt kind, the rifle chooses the pellet it works best with not the shooter..i got over 46 different kinds of pellets and BBs and i can tell you for a fact that the gun will choose the pellet it likes.. just a thought dude :) :D

If a gun isn't accurate with a scope something is wrong.

probably the first thing to ask is does the scope have an adjustable objective.
Paralax error is very real...

Then you move on to mechanical problems.

loose barrel lockup.
scope slipping in mounts,
mounts slipping on rail,
heck even broken scope.

only one item on that list has anything to do with the gun itself.

no that is not true with airguns you have to lock onto your target for an additional second becuase a pellet is way slower than a bullet and it takes a sec to get out of the barrel. if the recoil is to great to do so then you will be horribly inaccurate. if this is not the problem then the above is correct. and maby ur not sighting ur scop properly.. this is normally found on springers, thats why on most springers there is no dovetail mount

check the following,

Leadchucker has done a lot of work on his Quest and the results are very good indeed. I have fired his gun on a number of occasions and it is hard hitting. his main accuracy problem was the barrel lockup and the crappy trigger. He has fixed the trigger and is working on the barrel pivot point.
