Swear words (especialy with bananas)

#1 Post by ABshooter »

Heh, the topic's title was just to get you all to look a my topic :D just cause I want everyone's opinion one this one. Hope you don't mind that. I won't do it again, this is just an important topic. Please don't ban me or something. Okay, real topic: my quest is horrible with a scope, and I really want to try some long range stuff (50 yards) so I'm planning to take it back to Canadian Tire, and get a Beeman 1041. Yeah, I know it doesn't have iron sights, but I got a 781, which dose fine at 10 meters. So what do you think? Another reason is that the quest just doesn't feel or sound as nice as the Beeman did (I owned a 1040, before returning it because the front sight was too delicate). You know how when you pick up something really well made, the quality fills your hands? The Beeman did that, but the quest doesn't. The beeman just felt really good.

Thanks,

I say go for it if you like the beeman better. The quest isn't going to be accurate with scopes unless you give a tune and replace the bushings with metal ones.

If the quest is twangy for you its probably because of a bad fit with the spring guide, thats why most people end up having to build a metal one. Also because the spring guide tends to break because its made of plastic (i believe)....

My bro has the winchester, and he doesn't want me to get one too, and the benjamin is too big and it's too expesive.

It is me again and i have both the Quest 500 of mine shoots good open sight and erradict with a scope.
The Beeman 1040/1041 with scope & ported muzzle break is better built i think but i find the trigger a bit unpredictable at times.
But to shoot accurately at 30 yards with any of those two ,it is pushing it in my opinion.

Springers in general are hard to scope.
Even top quality springers are very hard on the mount and scope. You can't skimp on both either if you want good results.
On top of that, springers are tough to shoot well due to recoil. Of course with a scope mounted, accuracy expectations are also higher.

Now if you are trying to scope a low dollar, low precision, high power springer with cheap mounts and scopes, you really have a problem here. I haven't been able to do it yet to my satisfaction. Even with good mounts and scopes.

Maybe you might have to stick with open sights and lower your expectations. Or get some CO2, pump or PCP guns. Now those never seem to give me any troubles, even the cheap ones.

50yds with a stock springer ? you'l have to shim your scopes front mount up about an inch. lol. springers are hard to get good at accuracy ,and using a scope can change your hold . i think you can shoot a springer and be accurate but it will take time.

Peep sights works very well.
Red dots have the same problems as scopes. They do work a bit better, because your accuracy expectations are not as high. :P

Yes, my Diana 36 has bushnell red dot and Diana 34 has Beeman Aperture sight (peep sight). Both are very accurate, deadly accurate at 30 yards, ..... 50 yards I don't think it's a problem but I never try it yet
