Chinese arrow any info

#1 Post by pistol pete »

Hello my name is Pete and I'm new to this forum. I thought I'd stop here to see if any of you knowledgable people could tell me anything about this pistol. It has AIR PISTOL written on the side with chinese characters and is made by the ARROW company. It looks like it is stamped sheet metal

Hi Pete, welcome aboard.

That's a cool looking pistol, it looks very solid, even got chinese writing on it.

Nice gun. If you find out where they are sold (if they are still sold) please let me know. I would like to have one myself.

Thanks Metal and Sniper. Well I just got it yesterday at the HAC show in Burnaby. I bought it because it is really solid and it looks like it's built like an AK. The pistol grip is very similar in construction and the stamped metal gives this pistol a battle worthy(if you like fighting wars with pellet guns) look. The dude at the show said he thought the design was used as a military trainer, but I don't know about that. I think it might be hard to find another one, but I really don't know anything about it. It seems to shoot well and the cocking handle is heavily tensioned. How can I tell what mechanism this pistol uses. I assume it is a spring operated pistol. Thanks again for the reply. Pete

If the cocking stroke gets harder tward the end, and it fires smooth with little or no motion (except maybe microscope recoil) it's probably a single pump pneumatic.

If the cocking stroke is the same difficulty along it's leanght, and the pistol kicks (particularly foreward a bit) or vibrates upong firing at all it's probably a spring piston design.

also a pnumatic would PROBABLY sound most like *POP* were a springer would be more like *KaCHUNK* or *DFFF!*

looks very nice, good find. :)

My guess is that it's a spring gun. That big loading breech would be a nightmare to properly seal if it were a single-stroke pneumatic.

Thanks Marmot and Joben. The action feels like how you describe the single pump pneumatic. It gets harder toward the end of the stroke and it gives off a little pop sound on firing. The breech block is quite large and is sealed mechanically on loading and seems to lock up tight.I was just shooting it down the hall and it shoots quite straight at about 20 feet and will go through an empty milk jug and sometimes out the back. I'm pretty impressed with it. It has a tiny rear ramp notch and the front is a post set up like a battle weapon with dog ears around it. Pretty hard to see! Thanks Pete

Yea, what he said. I didn't know there was a show in BBY or I would have been there myself. Any info on future shows?

yeah here are the dates for the show in the lower mainland. Most of the stuff is fiream related but I'd say 20 to 30 percent is air propelled. This one guy that I dealt with had a great selection of pistols, all pump. Another dude had all the new type rifles and a few older ones. D and L are there as well as Lock Stock and Barrel.

I heard it may take up to 6 months to get PAL from the date of the applicant passing the exams. :(

Thanks so much for the info. Guess I can take pictures but not touching the guns.

You don't need a pal for most of the stuff, and mine took six weeks. It's the operating engineers hall. Lots to look at from war medals and nazi stuff, bayos, knifes antiques hand guns, rifles, air equipment and books and clothing, you name it. The pal just gives you a little more range! (PS if you have any broken air equipment like leaking cylinder chambers and worn rings etc., two of the only repair people in town are usually there. You can drop it off and pick it up next show, save a trip to langley. I keep forgeting to bring my buddies Crossman Mark 1 Target in for repair!)
