How much noise from the breech when firing, as it seems close to one's ear?

Yes, the noise of impact of the piston against the receiver is there but
I never notice since too busy concentrating on aiming the target.

Congrats Sniper on a new toy! 8)
More toys for Sniper to mod. Yummy. It is easy to work on. A good clean up, a new synthetic piston seal and a lube tune I see in your future.

My B5-10 from Sunny was just dropped off today. :D

It is pretty noisy, especially with your head leaning against the cold steel action while shooting it. I wear ear muffs while shooting mine. :P

Eta, what are your impressions of the B5-10 so far? I just ordered mine.

Do you think Crosman barrel clamp scope mounts would work on it?

Not much chance to shoot it yet. I'll post a mini review in the near future.

I have just received my B9. It is a compact rifle (overall length shorter than my Daisy 953). But I am thinking perhaps a higher mounting of the scope will help make it more comfortable.

Do any of you think a higher scope mount will help ?

I was thinking about that and I think it would. What about POI range, would be alot less. ....
or As ETA mention ear muffs sounds like a good idea ....
how about one of those winter hat with ear cover on it.
