2289 lost pump compression...HELP!

#1 Post by canshooter »

I have fully modded my 2289, valve, hammer spring, valve spring, transfer tube, and even made my own aluminum piston. Its been working like a dream for about 1000 shots. Suddenly yesterday over a couple of dozen shots the pump was not giving any compression. Yes I cock the gun before pumping because of the changed spring power ratio. I tried changing the pump cup to no avail, although the ones I tried were both slightly used. I am wondering if it could be the seal on the outside of the valve. any suggestions appreciated.

yeah I think is the Oring outside of the valve body, me too I had the same problem. when you remove the valve theres big chance that you damaged the oring with sharp edges of the pump pin hole. just change the oring.

replace the no.9 oring that is on the outside of the valve make sure to put some oil on it before you put the valve back in if you still lose pressre then check the valve body oring next these will blow and cause the same problem as well..also check the valve stem as well if evrey thing else fails but most likey is the outside oring....

Thanks guys, I dont have a spare oring but I might try a few wraps of teflon tape over the old oring to see if it helps. When I find them I have heard that a urethane oring seals better and is much more durable.
