Hi Jester ,
bore polishing removes minor scratches and blemishes from a rifle barrel ..thus reduceing lead fouling and increasing accuracy.
target shooters and competition shooters frequently polish the barrels to remove deposits and keep them mirror like shiny.
You can use Fliz metal polish , you can use JB bore bright ...

I have found the auto body polishes work well ..the fine ones that have wax in them for final finishing ...the method is here ....
