CR 2289G

#1 Post by ABshooter »

Well I have been thinking and I don't think my 1041 is gonna kill a magpie at 100ft, it also kicks bad, probably I would not be able to hit a gallon milk jug at that distance with it. So, I think I'll trade it in for a 2289g. My questions: does it have the same plastic breech as the 2240, and how accurate is it? Also, does it kick?

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

Yes, it does have plastic breech like 2240 but that can always be changed.

Brand new 2289 only gives you about 400 fps. and that also won't give you
what you need it to do, untill you do some modification on it.
Now you have another problem is pumping so much to get one shot.
If you miss, it'll take about 25-30 seconds to pump up 10x for the next shot
and by then what ever you're trying to hunt will be long gone ....
perhaps wait another hours .... but if that all good then go for it ...

I just noticed in your sig it says you have a really old backpacker. That is pretty much exactly the same as the 2289 (if not identical) and the parts are interchangeable. Why not build that one? New barrel, updated valve,, some port work, and you have a hunting-ready rig for like 30 bucks.

It's a 1389 (.177), and doesn't have much power. Also, I don't know if the .22 barrel will fit in the barrel clamp.

Hm, maybe I'll just get a 2240 and do all the mods like shoulder stock, longer barrel, scope, metal breech. That'll probably make a nice hunter, eh? :D

That's an excellent idea. 24" barrel, mod valve and ports, bulkfill, 12oz
bottle or 9 at least. bottle warmer for low temp. winter outdoor. 14 ft.lbs
100 ft is a piece of cake .....
Do that with QB78 is a bit cheaper and easier.

first of all

thats what the co2 warmer is for.

secondly

for 100ft you dont need a zeiss dude, get a nice 4x rimfire scope like a tasco or bushnell for cheap

thats all you need unless your going all out with the 800 dollar guns

get a qb78 and mod the hell out of it.

The barrels on the current co2 and pump guns like that are 0.435 inches in diameter
