Built in 35 yard Indoor range I didn't know I had...

#1 Post by On/Scene Tactical »

Hey Guys....

I just figured out, that I have a built in Indoor range in my house!Actually I have two, but the first one makes more sense...

Ok,, so my son and I were in the attic the other day moving boxes and such around,,when it occurs to me that from one end of my house to the other is 36 yards,,give or take a few...

The attic of my house has a tunnel built from one end to the other for storage, complete with a floor. With a trap door and stairs at one end I've got a straight shot down to the other end...I've got about a 3'X5' target area,,that would be perfect for a nice big backstop and trap..

Theres only one problem really and thats all the crap thats stored up there..
If I were careful I could easily fly a pellet past all the crap and down to the other end..
Theres about 24" from box to box (left to right), and most are rubbermaid bins...
The tunnel is also insulated to some degree ventilation is excellent and a small space heater would make for ideal comfort uring the winter..
The only major drawback is there is only safely enough room for two people,,possibly three with the trap door closed...

I've already been thinking about a target retrieving system.. An old garage door opener complete with remote..LOL

So what do you think guys ??
Would it be worth putting in the effort for a 35 yard indoor winter/spring and not to mention rainy, crappy day and night time range ??
It honestly wouldn't take much more than moving some boxes, getting rid of some crap and building a solid backstop and trap...

If i was you i would do it.
36 yards that is a big big house.
My indoor range is only 36' top,the olympic shooters only use 33'/10 meters so i am happy .
I shoot from my bedroom pass the bathroom & the livingroom and my target are on the kitchen wall permanently installed.

Ive got a similar "tunnel" in my basement, only its 40' in total,I can shoot at 10 meters.
I say do it,its where I do most of my shooting because its so convinient.
You know,go to the freezer for a packet of ground beef, come back an hour later.
