Maybe a similar post has already been asked but I couln't find it in the search but .....
I was wondering if anyone who has a chrono could post some results. Since I don't have a chrono it's hard to determine an approx fps. What I want to know is what a .177 pellet will do at a certain fps. eg: let's say you chrono your .177 at 600fps, what will it do at 20ft to a apple juice can compared to 10 ft or 30 ft. MAybe the pellet only goes through one side and puts a dent in the other side, or maybe it goes through both sides and the can doesn't even move. Or maybe you have a better type of prop that gives a better universal result ( like a wet catologe) I don't care if your chrono results can be any thing between 350-1100 fps (because I have all guns inbetween) I'de appreciate the input.
PS- even .22 caliber results would be welcomed

This is just the thing that I would like to do \:D/ but with the work load that I have right now I just don't have time to get my chrono running #-o
I will do it as soon as I can. I plan on shooting through a sheet of styrofoam at a steel plate. When the pellet hits the plate the styrofoam will hold it for retrieval.
This should provide pellets for comparison by measurement. The test will be easy to reproduce by anyone anywhere. It should give those without a chrono a close idea of where there guns shoot.
I have done some preliminary tests using a cardboard box in front of a steel plate. For example; my stock 1377 pistol at 10 pumps flattens a pellet to about 5/16" at twenty feet. My modified 1377 carbine flattens the same pellet to over 3/8" and makes it about as thin as a piece of paper.
This comparison doesn't help much without knowing the fps. All that it tells me is that my mods were well worth the effort.
