compensator help!!

#1 Post by Aaron »

i have been thinking of building a copper pipe compensator for my 2289
i have a 6 inch long peice that is 3/4 inch wide and spray painted with rhino bedliner for truck beds but all i need is some type of spacer for the open space between the outer part of my barrel and inner part of compensator, any of you guys have any ideas for a filler, and for all of you guys with synthetic stocks who would like to to add a nice look to your gun use a spray pint bedliner like rhino and it will give it a good estetic look along with grip and good weather seal
kill it with fire

Look in the electrical and plumbing departments in your local hardware store (Home Depot is good).

First get an idea of what you need, and then look for anything that is similar. Before you go, actually measure the inside and outside diameters of the tube and the barrel, and bring a set of vernier calipers with you to the store so you can actually check each part you find that looks like it might work.

If you have a drill press, you can use it as a lathe to turn down a part to the exact size. If a part is close but the OD is slightly undersized, you can wrap it with electrical tape until it fits just right. Whatever you do make sure that it's going to be secure though because the last thing you want is for it to move, and the pellet to miss the hole at the end!

Is anyone else interested in this type of low tech compensator? If so I could make up some simple spacers that will fit the Crosman barrels.

I will make one up tommorrow and post a photo.

Code word for another kind of "-ator" that should not be openly discussed.

I saved an article from a guy in Mexico who built a shroud with 3/4" copper tube, 3/4" copper repair coupling tube, 7/16" collar shafts and some washers
I think the copper tubing is suppose to go inside the coupling. I haven't tried to make one yet.
