Help please!!!!!

#1 Post by RM422 »

Ok I posted a topic about a suitable main spring for my RM422. It's getting a lot of views and nobody seems to be answering. D&L has the Diana 34 main spring in stock will that fit? Or how bout a CZ spring?

Mainspring Specification

#2 Post by RossB »

Need the following dimensions
1. Piston ID (critical unless you are planning to sleeve it)
2. Guide OD ( critical unless you are prepared to make a new one.)
3. Total spring room available between top of guide base and bottom of piston when the gun is cocked.
Also need to know.
What power level is desired?
What compromises with cocking effort and firing behavior in the pursuit of power?
Various springs "will-fit" but performances will vary.

the piston is about .800 ID. And the spring guide I can make a new one. Well with the stronger spring I had in my RM422 before it weakened was getting around and estimated 650fps -700fps. I would like to get 650-700 again. More if possible.

Mainspring

It appears that a .128" wire spring with a .530 -.540 ID might be ideal.
This spring specification is quite generic for medium power air rifles.
Fits BSF 55/60/S70, Weihrauch 50, 55, 85, 77, 97, Webley Tomahawk, TX200, and many others.
The spring space available when the gun is cocked is still needed to calculate the number of coils possible.
I note that my BSF S70 does 735 fps with only 28 coils of this spring.
I suspect that 30 coils of .128" wire will fit into your gun and still allow for safe cocking.
I probably have several used, good condition, springs that will fit.

You may need a larger OD guide if you wish to use a Diana mainspring.
Diana have been playing with spring dimensions without changing part numbers.
It can be difficult to say what dimensions you will get when you order a mainspring from a Diana dealer.

Thanks for all your help. I just got the measurements from the diana34 spring and it's the same dimensions OD ID and one inch longer with only 33 coils would that be an ok spring? Or would you be interested in sending me a spring that you have? Ofcourse I would pay you if you are interesting in sending one.
