Simple question about 22xx pumparms. ???

#1 Post by Jan »

I hate to make an entire thread to ask this simple question but anyway.

How do you remove a pumparm? I want to remove the one from my 2289 so I can give it a black coating.

Thanks.

Is that right? Does anyone know if there is a special tool needed when removing and replacing them?

Yup, that's correct as Aaron mentioned. No special tools required, you
can just use nail or what ever metal fits thru there with light hammer.

Jan the above ideas will work..... but nails and such will deform the pins and possibly the pin holes from expansion. Try to find a hard bolt which is the same diameter or slightly less as the pin, and file it flat on the end. Then take a nut with tape over both sides and place it in alignment with the hole and flat bolt and squeeze it together gently in a vice...... this will push out the pin into the nuts internal area on the opposite side without damaging the pin, hole, or finish on the weapon..... I know it takes 3 hands, but you can do it if you are careful. I do it that way here. -LarryS

You can buy a whole set of pin drifts at princess auto for less than $10.00 Rona and Home Hardware carry single drifts for a few bucks each. Its worth the investment.

Do you know where I can get 1/16" punch or pin drifts, I have Snap-On
15 punch set right down to 3/32" but no 1/16"..... perhaps something

In a pinch I have used an appropriate size of drill bit as a pumch. perhaps you could cut one off with a dremel and then drill and mount it in a steel rod to make your own.
