Hello! I'm thinking of purchasing a B96 later on. If you don't mind, I've a few questions about this air gun. (sorry, I know nothing about guns in general)
- How does that dot sight work? I thought gun sights needed 2 points to make a straight line for aiming, and I don't see anything on the tip of the barrel. Or is it supposed to allow you to see the laser dot??
- How reliable is that B96 without all your modifications? I am currently using my cousin's Drulov pistol and it has some issues with shooting more than one pellet at a time. (I think it is a finicky eater ) Probably has something to do with certain brand of pellets or something. Can the B96 shoot just about any kind of pellet?
Thanks a lot for the help!

Welcome to the forum Mina!
Here is the stock Aeron B96 with the original sights and compensator:
Here it is modded:
The dot sights work by reflecting the image of a small dot of light projected from the back end of the sight. A semi-transparent lens is used to reflect the image of the dot so you can see both the target and the dot. The lens is curved in such a way that the dot is stationary relative to the gun regardless of the movement of you eye relative to the gun.
The thick black barrel is a custom fitted shroud or LDC. It will not affect accuracy if constructed properly.
As long as the pellets fit snug inside the magazine and not protruding, you will not have any feeding problems. So any shape pellet head will work, as long as it is not too loose or too long. Most common pellets will work.

I thought long and hard over the PCP version (I already have a HPA pump). In the end, it did not justify almost double the cost. CO2 is a lot more convenient. The B96 is very efficient with CO2 use. You get up to 60 to 75 shots with one Powerlet. A pocket full of CO2 Powerlets will go a long ways, any time, any place.Mina wrote:Thank you much for the info, ETA! I've never used a dot sight before. Now I'm torn between this model and the PCP powered B98.
The difference in price between the PCP and CO2 version will buy you almost a lifetime supply of CO2 Powerlets for your B96.
