I have a Confession to Make...

#1 Post by On/Scene Tactical »

Hey Guys...

Ok,, this is Really hard to say in public, I've been thinking about this for a Very long time...

No,, I don't work for the RCMP,, I'm not a spy, I'm not a Cross dresser,,and although I do enjoy wearing ladies Undergarments on the odd occasion that doesn't make me Strange...

Ok,, here it goes..

I've been cheating and sneaking around on my favorite pellet purveyor and buying cheap pellets from CT and Walmart, or whereever I can get a cheap lead fix!..

There! I've said it...

I keep the good RWS Super H for hunting and serious target practice,, but for plinking and simply throwing lead down range,, I use the cheap stuff..

Is there something wrong with me ? Do I need group counselling ??
Tell me I'm not the only one!!

lol if buying cheap stuff is a crime, then lock me up!
The good pellets are a bit expensive for just plain plinking.
The good stuff is for hunting, serious target shooting, etc.

Don't worry man, you're not alone. I do it myself, Gamo match and hunter are pretty decent pellets really, I even have a couple of guns that prefer the Copperhead variety over the quality brand names. But unfortunately they arn't accurate or healthy for some of my guns. And when I want consistent accuracy and power with consistent fit, I reach for a tin of JSB's, RWS, or H&N's. But for plinking with a CZ or 1377, etc. the cheapies are the way to go.

P.S. You really had me worried there for a minute, thought you were a narc or cheating on your old lady or something,LOL!

No way! Plinking is serious business! You need serious pellets! You can't just use cheap pellets! What is the fun in not hitting the cans you are shooting at?
Seriously, even my cheap Crosmans get fed the good stuff. For some reason Copperheads suck in Crosman guns. Try some JSB Exacts or SCHaks, you Crosman guns will become match grade. :D OK, not quite, but a whole lot better. 8)

Eric , you have a magnum springer, no ? At higher velocities the cheapies might give you leading problems . JSB Schracks are less expensive but not cheap . YMMV

Hi Eric,

Perhaps this is something that you never consider before perhaps got
overlook, perhaps it's mounting up one more of the many problems with your
D350 shooting way off target sometimes beside the scope and all,
perhaps those cheap pellets are not just they're not accurate but also
dirty up your barrel as well ...

Hey Guys..

LOL

Thanks for the replies..

Sniper.. No it doesn't have anything to do with why the D350 is shooting..
First off,, I only shoot RWS Super H through it, as I found these to be more accurate,,and the gun is zero'd for them. Also clean the barrel with a Boresnake constantly..

The problem with the D350 shooting poorly is completely due to the scope. I talked with a tech from Simmons and was told that there is a weal or non properly funcntioning spring in the elevation adjustments which is causing this.. The scope goes back to Simmons in the new year..

The cheap lead gets put through the hand guns, and other guns...

The Copperhead wadcutters are actually fairly consistant..Some of the worst ones I've seen were the crossman Premier pellets..I wasn't actually too impressed with these...Expansion cone is very small, and find they fit differently from pellet to pellet...
