Crosman 2289 "Backpacker"

#1 Post by Gotrice23 »

I'm interested in the Crosman 2289 and I'm thinking of buying. I've looked over Review Centre and I'm not satisfied with the reviews. In my opinion they are kind of vague. Can you guys post your experiences and problems?

Well, the 2240 and 2289 are very related, indeed, they are almost the same gun. Any way, I have a 2240, and I am VERY satisfied with it. The 22xx series is, in my opinion, crosman's best work, in essence, their masterpiece.

Hey, don't hate. It releases negative energy, which is bad for everyone.

From the factory it leaves something to be desired, but if you've got the patience, resources, and DIY spirit, it can be customized and tweaked into something nice.

As far as multi-pumpers go, I was considering one but I went with a Xisico B5-10 instead (still waiting for it to arrive, though). The B5-10 offers more efficient pumping (4 pumps gets you the same velocity as 10 pumps on the Crosman) and it has a nifty telescoping stock and 10-shot magazine. Only downside is that it's only available in .177 caliber.

wel i have had a few of them and i like them just fine in fact i have a used one for sale for 85.00 if your interested..

i gota steel breech and barrel band on my own and it rocks, for the modders out there there is alot of things you can do to dress up the 2289 and zip it up in power as well as looks like muzzle brakes and all that jazz... there pretty accurat once you scope it or red dot it, ask the guys here and they can tell you all kinds of neat power up tricks and stuff, you can also add on longer barrels different cal barrels as well 177 22 and so on......any how hope some of this information helps you out

i also have a few really cool custom made muzzle brakes for sale in stock as well...

I'll tell you what I dislike about my 2289:

The pump arm pin on mine moves out over time so I have to push it back in. This can be remedied and it might not happen to everyone.

The stock breech is plastic and has no scope rails but you can buy a replacement steel breech kit that has rails.

Sorry, but I'm just 14 and my parents won't let me order. I live in BC so it's pretty hard to find stores like yours made just for airguns. I hope someone sets up a store and a range here. I'd be their number 1 customer!

I recently picked up a used 2289. The only thing that for me would be essential would be to change the sights to something better. The other mods would improve power but it packs a pretty good punch just like it is.

I don't really believe in taking apart the airgun and playing around with the parts. This voids the warranty and might make the gun unsafe.

Maybe the gun is broken (or maybe it's your shooting abilities) How far are you shooting from?

If you want one there it is: http://www.airgunforum.ca/forum/viewtopic.1628.html

I haven't use mine since after the first day shooting with it. Too much
trouble pumping for every shot. I'm still thinking what to do with it.
The front sight is good with glo-sight. I can use that on one of the 2250.
The grip I can make another 2250 w/24" barrel or I was thinking to
convert the whole thing to a PCP rifle ..... something to do ....
