Walther P22

#1 Post by Gotrice23 »

This airsoft pistol. I have the clear version from CT and I'm wondering if I could Mod it in anyway to make it less crappy.

Paint or try to dye it. Use black Rit dye.

Here's how I "stripped" the pistol so far (I'm not done). Sorry the picture are a little blurry:

Image

First I took the ammo clip out.

Image

Second I took the pin that supported the backstrap out.

Image

Third I took the backstrap out.

Image

Then I took out the pins that held the slide and the bottom together.

Image

Then I took the slide and the bottom apart.

Image

Lastly, I took the thing that held the trigger and the firing pin(I think its a firing pin...) out of the slide part.

Will the dye come off if I use it? (sweat rubs the dye off?)

If done properly, the dye will not come off.

Here a pic of my yellow Drozd dyed black. It takes about 20 minutes to dye it.

You buy Rit fabric dye at Walmart.

Strip gun down totally.

Wash parts that you want dyed to remove grease & dirt.

In a large stainless steel pot, stir in two boxes with water as per directions. Let the mixture simmer on low heat....not boiling....on the stovetop.

Soak parts for about 15-20 minutes.

Rinse parts and dry.

Re-assemble.

That's it, that's all.

Also, what about the metal parts stick out of the frame? (look at the picture, there's a magazine release lever that I can't take out)

So when I'm soaking the parts, should I put them in the pot of water? (Sorry about all the questions, I'm still a newbie)

Of course, soak the parts in the pot of water that has the dye. Use caution, this stuff will stain anything and everything....bleach is your best friend with this job.

So wouldn't the pot stain? (If it does hello lifetime grounding)

My stainless pot came back perfect!!! Bleach is your friend!!!!

There's a dye method on this website. Watch out for the girls...they're kinda distracting to say the least!!!

I used two boxes of powered dye and it worked out perfectly. Also, you can find many discussions about dying on Drozd forums.

I did it! I stripped it to the frame! Check this out:

This is the frame.

I already disassembled the magazine, but I put it back together (which is a pain in the a** to do).
