That the bushnell scope taken of my 300 win. mag.(massive recoil) will become destroyed when put on my diana 45 springer? How is this so? Input is much appreciated, Thank's.
Spring guns double recoil they snap forward and then back most rilfe scope are not braced for it.......

If your bushnell is a higher end model like an Elite, I can't see you having any problems. Even the Trophy series seem to do all right. There are a couple of Banner series the are springer rated. I use a Banner 6-18x50 on my HW97 and it seemed to to well. I decided to try it on my 350 mag with opposite results!!!!!
airguns spring ones in particular don't have a whole lot of air jetting out the end of the muzzle....and the projectiles are too light to have pushing them out the barrel push the gun back (equal and opposite reaction stuff). So the mechanics of their recoil is quite a bit different from firearms.tiggs wrote:Would a muzzle brake increase or decrease the forward part of the recoil?
The recoil comes from the big spring inside driving the fairly heavy piston ( a pound or so) forward at speed...
That gives a bit of true recoil, pushing the gun back into your shoulder.
Heres the interesting part:
Then the piston slams to a stop at the front of the cylinder and the gun jerks forward and vibrates. Thats what kills scopes.

Generaly speaking the higher you go up the springer power scale the harder they are on scopes. Normal scopes could hold up on some more mild mannered rifles...
But getting airgun models generaly makes sense anyway, because they generaly have an Adjustable Objective to eliminate accuracy problems caused by paralax error in close range shooting (<50 yards)
First of all thank's for the reply's.The scope is a Trophy 4-12x40, I decided to try it out,I could not imagine it could be worse than shooting the win,mag with bi-pod on concrete bench rest at rifle range, the gun seem's to bang in every direction off that hard rest. I had no problem's with the scope on the springer other than the parralax error described by Joben,I found it impossible to focus the target and the reticle any closer than 40 yards, my shop is only 25 yards long.Hence after a little frustration took the scope back off, 1" groups at 25 yards are unacceptable.
