Safe Shooting for Fun and Frolic. Involving AirSoft guns, pneumetics , barrel-breakers etc etc.
Target Practicing at home can only last for so long. Ultimately ONE needs to step out to the back yard for controlled practice and s o on. But what to do when the need for a higher level of fun arrises and becomes a craving << neighter HurtfuL nor MALICIOUS in nature.
q1: which higher grounds are legally viable in ontario especially GTA for practicing air rifle shooting past one's backyard?
q2: Can we practice in apparently empty parks? << excluding walkabouts and jogging tracks or even around walk ways.
Please Comment using headers e-g A1 and A2 for answering q1 and q2 for clarity and comprehension.
THanks!!

Please don't try ANY of the above [-X You will get in deep $h!t 8-[
If you live in any big city the best thing to do would be to find a gun club and join it. Gun clubs have places to shoot where you won't get into any trouble.

It's not where you go, it's who you know! Everyone knows someone, that knows someone who owns rural or private land. I made a freind through a guy I work with that has an acreage only 20min outside of my city. I now have a place I can go anytime to shoot, he even lets me play with his high power fire sticks when I really want to blow the snot out of a reactive target!
I'm going icefishing with them this year and likely buy some whitetail tags next hunting season and join them on the hunt.
Knowing that one person gave me the oportunity to enjoy my hobby to the fullest, even though I live in a medium sized city.
Ask around to the people you know, and you'll likely find someone who will let you shoot on there land. At least I hope so, good luck.

nothing without homework :)
Thanks guyz.
to sum up :
Shooting out in parks is definitely a nO nO then...
For a good time out - grouping with someone with similar interest is not only an asset but vital in this scenario especially for people from in or around Toronto- its gonna need some HOMEWORK
I am not sure whether to begin a new thread for it or not but WHO's got some ideas for air gun shooting in or around Toronto << sounds amateur but i gotta begin somewhere

Basement shooting and authorized gun range shooting will be safe. Maybe make some phone calls or web searches and find a "city limits" map for your area. Also check for township areas which do not allow firearms, airgun, or archery equipment use (check with their offices) Once you find some non-city land then you have to be sure it's not privately owned. Look for some crownland and you should be fine. To be safe you might want to phone the police who patrol that area to be sure. You might also find some non-city private land where a farmer is willing to let you shoot.stonned_blueeyes wrote: I am not sure whether to begin a new thread for it or not but WHO's got some ideas for air gun shooting in or around Toronto << sounds amateur but i gotta begin somewhere

Also beware the Game and Fish act , in a nut shell , if you are in an area where game can be found, and you have the means to take said game : you are deemed to be hunting . If you have no hunting liscence you are poaching . Generally conservation officers are reasonable , if you have targets set up on stands etc , however if you are wandering around shooting at pine cones etc : they might interpret that as hunting . Private land is safer , conservation officers have the athourity to enter private land .

Shooting in authorized land
all those other places r good places to shoot but u can also shoot in a leased building that u would obviously have to lease for some time depending on how much shooting u would have to do u would also habve to make a back stop and alert the surrounding buildings but it would be worth it to get a "proper" (in a way) range that can function an not get in trouble with the law

Hey Guys..
What cdf said is absolutely true...
You can shoot/hunt on Crown land,, but let there be No mistake, that is a CO sees you..He'd better only see you target shooting, with real targets of some sort..
CO's have actually more power than normal police..CO's can search Anything they want, including your house, freezers ect...
I've shot before on Crown land,, and it's no problem, as long as you are within the law and you are Safe...Bring a backstop and trap with you,you shouldn't have a problem..

makes sense!
SOrry for having replied so late to begin with - just dint imagine so many air gun fans were regularly visiting but its great to have such a humungous response
Thankyou <b>GotRice23 </b> for the Grand Prix link. Really appreciate it << was wondering myself when it'd be yet lazy enuff to google it
<b>Todd aka TCooper </b> those step really outline the procedure for securing either a range or lone land with legality in prime perspective. I am going to follow it.
<b>Chris</b> i am looking into hunting legalities these days and the point you raised is very genuine. Since i am in downtown toronto area there isnt much of game hanging around but i was planning on giong out and shooting hanging cones and squirrel here n there but i will take appropriate information from the local authorities before proceding so that my target shooting is not mistaken for " illegal murder".
Thx <b>Eric aka On/Scene tactical</b> for the info on the CO's(conversation officers) - its always good know
<b>TPyro aka Pyro_8907</b>i am not sure wht u mean by leasing a building. Sounds gargantuan planning. However the shooting range idea is good. I am trying to look for a financially viable place these days... and ofcourse am keeping my fingers crossed coz havent been able to locate anything online - i think i'd have to look it up in yellow pages.
